I am thankful for Christmas

Thanksgiving was SO MUCH FUN! We had so much good food! And so much fun! We went to my mom's house and ate and played all day then we planned out our game plan for.... BLACK FRIDAY!!!!! Duh Duh DUH! We decided we were gonna go for it and go all out. We woke up at 2 am :) That's not really so early for us. But we were about the first in line for the stores we wanted to go to and we got everything we planned for. INCLUDING a beautiful 7 foot Christmas tree that we put up and decorated today :) We are so happy. We love Christmas!

This is our new tree!

We took a quick picture and it was kinda cute then...

Honey got jealous so we took a family picture, but she thought it was a photo shot for the cover of vogue just for her obviously.

Here's Donald with all our Christmas presents.

Thank you, Santa!

BTW
We are SO excited for Molly to get to go to Chili. That is a wonderful place to serve the Lord! And to play soccer on your P-days.
-Love-

Weir of the Week: Sarah Emma Kurtz

Sarah Emma Kurtz, born on winter solstice, is the sunshine in our lives. Its not difficult to make her laugh but very hard to make her stop. All I have to say is the word "tickle" to get an immediate response. She prides herself in her laugh and practices it regularly with a snort. She loves knock knock jokes (go figure) and bubble gum. Her favorite subject in school is P.E. and favorite game to play is soccer which must be from her Aunts Molly and Jessie and Uncle John. She loves Shel Silverstein (a love she acquired from her mother) and her favorite book is A Giraffe and a Half. Here is a little poem she created just last week when up a tree

I'll sleep in a tree
With a tortoise and a flea
To keep me company

She told me her favorite place is Qatar...she said because that is where Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle John are and she misses them...especially Grandpa Weir because he says "swimmin' chicken". I asked her if chasing boys is her favorite thing to do at recess to which she replied (with gusto) "NO WAY!" She likes to play a game called corners which seems to be a musical chairs kind of spin off. She loves to eat pasta and will eat and eat and eat and eat it until I say "enough pasta eating!" She will say "alright, but save me some for lunch tomorrow!" I asked her what her favorite thing to do on a Saturday is and she said "going to the dump"...Elko provides such entertainment, prospects for learning, and growing opportunities for our children. I think she just likes being with her dad. She was born to me for good reason, me being a photographer and her being my photogenic subject. I love to take pictures of her and I love all the pictures I've ever taken of her. I love Sarah. I ask myself how I could be the luckiest one in the world to be her mother...I don't know, I'm just lucky. And that's all I've got say on the matter.

Weir of the Week: Gallagher Neil Snow

Weir of the Week: Gallagher Neil Snow

It's a fitting week for Gallagher to be selected as Weir of the Week; on Tuesday, he will celebrate his 8th Birthday! Gallagher seems to have a knack for the dramatically and statistically improbable numeric phenomena. For example, one cool thing about Gallagher: He was born on 11/11/2000, which means that he will turn 11 on 11/11/11!

More Cool Things about Gallagher:

Gallagher is the fourth Generation of oldest Snow boys to bear the initials G.N.S. Gallagher is Irish/Gaelic for "eager helper" (and he is). The idea for his name came to his mother in a flash of inspiration driving west on 21st South at the intersection of 21st East in Salt Lake City, and is most likely is a reference to the surname of the brother-band-members of Oasis. Gallagher has two younger siblings (for the moment) who adore and emulate him, so he better keep being the good example that he is.

Gallagher's Favorite:

Food: plain white rice - it's not a joke.
Catch phrase: “Awesome!”
Animal: Dog, well, let’s rephrase that –
Stuffed Animal: Dog – he has about 10 of them.
Animal to observe at a safe distance at first and after a while, if circumstances allow, cautiously approach: Dog
Professional Sports Franchise: Chicago Cubs
Cubs Player: First baseman and number three hitter, # 25 Derek Lee
Past time: Playing complete-nine-inning games of 1 on 0 baseball with himself (as the Cubs) and himself (as the Cubs’ current opponent) in the living room, with green blankets representing the infield and outfield, red ones representing the infield dirt and pitchers mound, and the couch, piano, and carefully-repositioned dining room chairs as the outfield walls. In addition to playing all nine positions on both teams, Gallagher is also the official scorekeeper (and he keeps track of each and every pitch), the grounds crew, and both members of the TV announcing booth. The scores of these games usually are in the 20’s or 30’s, but since the field already takes up most of the main floor of our house, there’s no way to move the home run walls any further away.
Subject at School: Math and reading (like that’s ever gonna get him anywhere)
Color: Green
Musical Style: As he puts it “Rock and Roll.” We were driving the other day listening to Simon and Garfunkle (which would have at least lean in the Rock direction). He asked to change the boring stuff and put on some Rock and Roll. He was then introduced to his new
Favorite Song: Baba O’Riley by the Who

Gallagher is loving and kind to everyone. He shows maturity beyond his years in his understanding of human emotion and interpersonal communication. He exudes optimism and hope. He is both gregarious and introspective. He knows who he is. He is a tender combination of innocence and understanding. He is loved by everyone who knows him. And for now, he’s the Weir of the Week.

A little late... Halloween Post

We have enjoyed seeing every ones Halloween costumes! It looks like every one had so much fun! We did, too. I dressed up as the Mad Hatter from Alice and Wonderland, Donald was a Physically Challenged Vampire, and Honey was a Bat. But I didn't get any pictures on my camera! :( We were too busy with fun. Honey stole the show where ever we went.

On Halloween night we had my family over so the little kids could trick-or-treat in our neighborhood. Then the little ones went home and we had a little party here. We watched an old scary movie and laughed at it and had a good time. One of my favorite Halloweens ever.

The best thing about this year was that it was the first time in my life I got to decorate the front of my house for the season. And I am all about that!!! I was SO proud of my spooky scene I had to share it with you guys.
The second best thing about this year was carving PUMPKINS!!! Unfortunately I got a little excited and carved mine on Monday and it was rotten by the time Friday came around. So my SWEET husband went out on Thursday and spent 5 hours carving the most difficult scene he could find in the book.... Can you guess which one is his? I love him.

And I LOVE Halloween.

Next up Thanksgiving.
